Parker's passion for weight training began at the age of 15. After a rough day at school, his older brother brought him to the gym to help get his mind off things.
Parker recalls the life-changing experience:
"I remember being cold, wearing an old t-shirt and shorts, and being without a doubt the skinniest person in the entire gym that day."
That experience lead to a chain reaction and before long, Parker began soaking up every piece of fitness knowledge he could get his hands on. From watching Pumping Iron, to reading hundreds of fitness articles in magazines and online, he gradually gained a sound knowledge of health and fitness. As a high school student, he often stayed after school, waiting for hours until the athletic teams completed their workouts because he was too young to join a local commercial gym. He trained and learned, and continued to improve his physique at a steady pace. In high school, Parker excelled in sports as a champion wrestler in the New England Prep School circuit. He also played baseball, helping lead his team to a state championship title.
In college he decided to actively pursue a career as a fitness model. He would even skip classes to travel for photo shoots in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles. Weekend trips to New York City became a regular part of his schedule. In his junior year of college, he was featured in a national advertising campaign for Bodybuilding.com, and shortly thereafter, landed his first workout spread and was named the "Mr. Exercise" Champion by Exercise for Men Magazine. He was driven to succeed as a fitness model.
